I was super productive like... 2 weeks ago. I kind of go through waves of productivity, actually. So in the course of one week I managed to finish 3 paintings and order prints for a fourth. If you've read back in the blog, you already know about my Prickly Pear obsession and my two finished cacti. Well, here's something a bit different!
I'm not a creature artist. At least, I hadn't been until I painted some pokemon and spent waaaay too long painting the torchbug from Skyrim on one of my alchemy paintings. Let's just say there's several dozen abandoned sketches of creatures I am far too intimidated of to attempt to paint. But this guy, THIS GUY, he's both a creature and a plant, so he was actually quite easy to get going.
Pickett the Bowtruckle from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them:
He definitely stole a few scenes in Fantastic Beasts as Newt's little pocket buddy. Of course, I had to do like every other artist and use the tongue sticking out pose from the movie, cuz... adorable. Hope you like him!
I also have a Niffler sketched, but he has a high resemblance to a fat, furry duck at the moment... So gotta clean that up a bit before I'm ready to try painting him... Also FUR? How do I... well that's an adventure for another day... after maybe watching a few tutorials on furry watercolor art (don't google that. just don't).
Up next: pineapple, seahorse, sea anemones, and an eggplant with a straw. No joke. Those are all on my desk right now, ready for paint.
