I'll admit I have a rather odd love of plants... But not just any plants. Nope... Fictitious plants. Particularly those in video games and books that I adore.
I've painted a variety of plants from Harry Potter (as I touched on in my first post), but most recently I jumped back into video game botany. A random request for a series of "Farmers Market Advertisements" prompted my first overly large painting: Hyrule Botanical Society.
The client was asking for a Deku Nut advertisement, specifically. Once I sketched the ad, I realized the deku nuts were just asking to be painted together with other plants from Hyrule I had previous painted separately: Horse Grass and Hawk Grass. Ta-da! The Hyrule Botanical Society was born.
Of course, I had also been playing waaaay too much Skyrim at the time and thought... Perhaps an Alchemy related botanical watercolor from Tamriel was due?
That's when I started plowing through the Skyrim Wiki to determine the best ingredient combination for a beautiful (and 100%) accurate potion illustration!
Here is the final print of Fortify Magicka! While the max number of ingredients in alchemy you can combine is actually only three, I thought four looked more balanced.
Red Mountain Flower, Briar Heart, Tundra Cotton, and Jazbay Grapes.
I'm just incredibly happy to finally have a new product on my Etsy after several months of delay. I DID just move 2700 miles cross country, so I'm not kicking myself too hard that it took 4 months...
Anyhow! Find them on my Etsy store at PrintsandProvisions!I have a limited number at the moment, but hope to get some more printed soon if I get a good response. It's entirely up to you, internet!
